What you need to know

The LED light therapy uses light-emitting diode (LED) technology to activate and promote collagen production and increase the rate of skin cell renewal. Enhanced collagen production dramatically reduces wrinkles and improves the overall texture of the epidermis, resulting in a more youthful, radiant appearance and feel.

LED Light Treatment Machines use a variety of different coloured lights to target different concerns. The settings are matched with your skin concerns, to ensure maximum results. Blue light therapy is sterilising and used to eliminate bacteria, excellent for acne and oily/acne prone skin. The red light therapy calms and heals the skin, promoting collagen production and encouraging cell renewal. This is a perfect light for reducing wrinkles, hydrating the skin and helps with overall face firmness.

This is a treatment that does not provide instant results, so patience is required.  Some people see results in as little as a few days, and others take a month or two to notice a change. Various physical conditions such as age, skin condition, diet, alcohol consumption, prescription drug usage, smoking, exercise, and other factors influence the rate of improvement. The effects of LED light are often subtle at first, since unlike lasers, peels and other ablative treatments, LED light does not damage the skin to force it to regenerate.

Before your treatment, you will be required to have a consultation with our Registered Nurse and prescribing Doctor who will look at your health history, areas of concern for treatment to determine if you are a suitable candidate.

One Week  Prior:

  • Avoid blood thinning medications
  • Avoid supplements: Multivitamins, Green Tea, Cinnamon, Ginger and Omega 3.

2 Days Prior:

  • Avoid topical products: Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, or any “anti-aging” products.
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal cream on the treatment area.

24 Hours Prior:

  • Avoid Alcohol

The LED lights do not emit thermal heat, so it is not damaging non-thermal light treatment. Even though you will be wearing protective eyewear during the procedure, the initial brightness of the light can be a little distracting for some. This is short lived and does not cause any damage in any way. There is no pain or discomfort associated with the treatment, and the experience can be further enhanced by a hand or foot massage during your treatment.

Anti Wrinkle Injections may not be suitable if you have:

  • Bleeding disorders
  • Pregnancy, Breast Feeding
  • Allergy to Botulinum Toxin
  • Inflammation or infection at the injection site
  • Extensive facial surgery
  • Treatment with Botulinum toxin within the past few weeks
  • Blood-thinning medications
  • Myasthenia Gravis or Myasthenia syndrome
  • Severe needle phobia

Like all treatments, Anti-wrinkle injections have their limitations, lines that are present despite facial expression called “static lines”; these can be softened but not entirely removed. Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable for the improvement of skin laxity or volume loss.

If side effects do occur, they are usually minor and do not last long. Short term side effects are:

  • Headaches
  • Eyestrain
  • Irritability

You should seek medical advice before using red light therapy if you have a bipolar disorder as it can cause mania.

Basic skin care along with applying sunscreen daily.

A series of 6 -10 treatments at weekly intervals is recommended.
